For the fourth straight season RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna sits alone atop the Female U18 Prep Division.
The Kelowna, BC side went 29-1-0 in the regular season before going 3-0-0 in the round robin, outscoring their opponents 30-4. After finishing first in Pool A they would play OHA Edmonton (Edmonton, AB) in the semi’s, taking home a 5-1 win.
Delta Hockey Academy Green (Delta, BC) would finish second during the regular season, handing RHA Kelowna their lone loss of the year. They would start their Championships with a loss to South Alberta Hockey Academy (Dunmore, AB), but wins over OHA Edmonton and Shawnigan Lake School (Shawnigan Lake, BC) put them first in Pool B at the end of the round robin. Backed by three power play goal, Delta Green (Delta, BC) beat Edge School (Calgary, AB) 5-2 in the semi’s.
RHA Kelowna controlled the majority of the play in the first but Delta Green had some chances of their own. The period would ultimately end tied 0-0.
The home side would come out hungry in the second, spending a good chunk of the frame in the Delta Green zone while peppering Maisie Cope (43/45) with chance after chance. RHA Kelowna would finally break through when an Ava MacLeod backhand took a fortunate bounce and rolled in over the head over Cope with 8:31 left in the period. Alida Korte would double the lead 1:07 later with a great toe drag release that would beat Cope high glove.
It appeared the flood gates were set to open but Cope and her Delta Green teammates stayed within striking distance. Ultimately, they were unable to generate in the third as Ava Drabyk (17/17) made 17 saves for the shutout.
